DNF note: i really want to like this book bc i love the concept but i'm bailing bc 1. prose is not very good & i'm a pretentious asshole 2. sensing absolutely no chemistry from either couple 3. donna's body issues are driving me nuts. huge pet peeve of mine is women w/ low self esteem who have to get told by men that they're pretty/good; for some that's a fantasy or is healing but it repulses me esp written by men

read this for a class & we skipped the middle half; don't know when/if i'll circle back to it because after reading ebora and seeing how people talk about ferrum i doubt i'll have the discipline to stick it through for fun. got a lot out of os and sal. notanda is arresting; started reading it with the intention of lulling myself to sleep but it woke me up instead. glad i got a glance at this.
