I am now about halfway through this 3rd or 4th reading of this book. For some reason or other it restores my faith in - everything. It has everything I want in a good read at the moment. I'll write more about it when I'm finished (again). I just want to add, though, that I deem it to be one of the best books I have ever read - I'm just trying to figure out why.....

Susan is 50% done with Nella Last's War: The Second World War Diaries of Housewife, 49
This book is a joy to read. The author is a middle-aged British woman, mother of two adult sons, who tells her story of the war year through diary entries. Her writing ability is astounding - poetic, heartfelt, humorous, and, sometimes painful to read. She writes like an accomplished novelist. I'm only about 50 pages in, but I'm hooked.

Have put this aside for now - good winter reading, but too many other books I want to read right now.

Wow - can't wait to go to bed to continue this book. Stephen King is not one of my favorite writers; I find him often redundant, but this book is a real page turner. I'll be sad when the ride is over.
