Worked through some of the introduction. So far it has talked about how the book is broken down and what the history of Aristotle is. We also get context regarding the books themselves.

Had a lot of wondering thoughts today and wasn’t paying attention too much but I locked in towards the end. Seneca at first continued talking about literature. He then switched over to living vs not living in accordance to nature. Towards the end, he began talking about pleasures and virtue. Finished the letters and all in all was good.

Had more wondering thoughts today than yesterday but still was able to understand everything. Seneca continued talked about taking action and even said himself to practice what you preach. But he said practice the simple things, not the far-fetched expressions. He also talked about literature and how you can tell a person/society based on their literary level.

Good so far. Was pretty locked in again. Had a few wondering thoughts, especially towards the end. But Seneca brought up some interesting points talking about accepting fate and taking action. He specifically talked about when students would learn new things. The only way for the info to truly reach them and for them to conceptualize it would be to implement into their lives. I thought this was good.

Very good read today. Understood most, had some issues on a page or two. But Seneca talked about character and confidence, giving examples of Socrates, Cato, and others. He talked about traveling and how you need to let go, traveling won’t fix your issues, only you will. Seneca also talked at the end about how to get people to not hate you. Pulled some great info today and good quotes and passages

Decent read. The first half of today I was in my head and was reading lines but thinking of other things. Towards the end, I got in a flow state and Seneca talked about his love and his wife’s love and how it’s selfish to die when you want, but you should hold out to the very end. He talked about leaving the city to make his illness better, he also talked about traveling and blows worse than death

Decent. Today I felt like I was reading lines, reading to read. I didn’t feel like I understood really anything. I know Seneca argued against Posidonus again and his philosophy but that’s about it.

Decent. Was a hard read and procrastinated a lot before reading. Talked about posidonus and his thoughts of the wise man and how Seneca didn’t like them. He talked about the wise man and craftsman ship and finished up his thoughts on Liberal Studies.

Continued talking about way of life but soon switched over to liberal studies, talking about the negatives and the positives. The reading wasn’t hard, but there were a few words or sentences that didn’t make sense. My biggest issue was having my mind wonder off to something else when reading.

Had decent difficulty again when reading and messed up some words and sentences. Seneca talked about men being drunk, his daily life, and also talked about what life was like back then and talked about how people hate on it when that’s all they had compared to now.

Read was a bit difficult and I got lost in thought a decent amount. I was also skipping words here and there and not fully reading sentences but Seneca talked about death and how one should go through pain.

Decent read, I read very fast and was mostly understandable. Seneca talked about the principles of the universe and God. He then talked about a man who killed himself and how he went about it after he talked to a stoic.

Decent read, was decently difficult, more so than yesterday. Talked about distractions and hearing random things and how you shouldn’t let that affect you. Then we learned that Lucilius’ friend died and Seneca talked about mourning and how you shouldn’t let grief overwhelm your body. How a few tears are fine but not too many.

Good so far. Was a bit more difficult than yesterday but was still able to understand most of it. Seneca talked about death and how other people act in retirement. And how the only way people can “live” is to be in line with nature and follow philosophy.

Good. No big distractions today which led to me being locked in on reading and I thought it was almost completely understandable. Seneca talked about slaves which related to how you should treat people and friendship and how you should treat friends.

Read wasn’t bad today, I was able to understand a good amount of it. He gave lucilius advice on how to talk and to create his own advice and to not follow others as that is weak. I was distracted today by my own thoughts and that threw me off a bit today.

Still had difficulty reading but was a tad better today. Seneca tries to talk to Lucilius more about life and old age and having a strong spirit and how that will be the best for him

The book felt so much harder to read today. The style is still weird and I’m not picking up on much. I was able to understand some, things like exercise, and training the mind. He also uses many quotes from different schools. Other than that, it was difficult.

Honestly pretty confusing read. A lot didn’t make sense to me. However I did understand some. It talked about friendship some more and the idea of the wise man not needing friends but wanting them. It also talked about mentors and behavior a bit. I feel like it talked about more but forgot

Good so far. Gave good info however today’s read was significantly harder due to constant interruption and losing my place in the text and forgetting what certain things are referring too. Seneca talked about staying away from crowds as it will lead to bad behavior and how he tries to do good for futures generations.

Switched from authors notes to actual letters which became much easier to read and I understand almost everything in it. The first 3 letters went over friendship, means of life, and so literature.

Interesting. The read was decently hard with some big words however I was able to understand most of it. There was more background however we learned that Senecas style of writing was very popular and many were influenced by it later in history.

Was a bit difficult due to the writing style. However the Holy Grail was like this too (in the sense that I have to get used to the style). So it may take a few days but then I’ll be fine. I learned a bit about Senecas life and how he wasn’t a perfect stoic, rather a hypocrite. I also learned some info on Stoicism, how it started, who made it, what it means

Very very hard to read. A ton of big words and old English. Worse to read than The Quest of the Holy Grail. I might have to drop the book and read it another time. Makes little sense and I’m not sure what he is even talking about.

Good, some large words that I probably should spend time searching up. Has just been giving thanks so far to friends, family, teachers, mentors.

The three went to Jerusalem, the city of Sarras and deposited the holy grail and the lance and the table. When carrying it, Galahad asked a disabled man to help who couldn’t walk and Galahad professed that he could, and the man did. Galahad said that he wanted to give his life to Christ and at the end, he died. With that, the items were brought back to the heavens. Perceval then became a hermit…

Decent read, had some difficulty. Galahad, Bors, and Perceval all met up again after 5yrs and they went to the Castle of Corbenic where they truly saw the Holy Grail. They were told to take it to the City of Sarras for it is much more holy than Logres.

Good so far, had some trouble on only a few pages. Galahad and Lancelot were together on the boat for 1yr. However after that, they split and Lancelot continued on the boat for a month where he came across the castle of Corbenic. He then saw the Holy Grail and soon went into a coma for 24 days & nights. Then he woke up and after some time, decided he wanted to go back to the Castle of Logres.

Good, read was completely understandable. Perceval’s sister gave blood to the woman who embodied sin we learned. The sister died and they sent her off on a boat. Bors went off and Perceval and Galahad went to the castle and saw it was destroyed by God because of the sister. Then the two split. The story switched to Lancelot where he asked for guidance and God told him take the first boat you see from the river.

Good so far, finished the reading pretty quickly and it was a good read and relatively easy. Went about how the group came upon a Scottish castle and the men there tried to kill them but the group fought off all them and saved the castle unknowingly. Then when traveling, the group came upon a castle where they had to draw the blood of Perceval’s sister because she is a virgin. They said no and it led to…
