Adversity impacts the way others see us which could be in a positive or negative manner. People can see these adversities as making a person stronger, or the opposite. Adversity impacts how we see ourselves in the same way. It's simply how it's handled. Tara sees herself as weaker when Shawn hurts her, "there were tears in [her] eyes. From the pain, [she] thought" (Westover 116).

I think my author mainly used rhetorical appeals to make their argument. I think this strengthens their argument. This strengthens their argument because they have credibility doing this, and they know what they're talking about because they've done background research. The author uses the rhetorical appeal, logos, when stating "by 2008, 2.7 million tons of BPA was being produced globally every year" (Perez 128).
