They introduce our main character and tell us that he is a thief who gets caught. Then they introduce the new prison they built and how it's impossible to escape.

During natural disasters, communities come together to help each other out. An example would be when tornadoes happen, the community helps everyone to fix what they can and get supplies that they need.

I would probably try to tell them they are wrong, but I would try to just walk away if they tried to fight.

My priorities are family, friends, and school.

I do agree that they are like other minority groups. I think they should fight for their rights, just because they have a short string doesn't mean they shouldn't have rights.

I honestly don't know if I would or not. I think that is just something you decide in the moment.

He seems willing to do anything to become president, even if it isn't necessarily good. It's not his place to tell people, so I disagree with his decision to "out" his opponents' string length.

Some repercussions Hank might have are experiencing feelings such as guilt. Also, he might face consequences such as disciplinary action from the hospital. On society as a whole, it could increase social awareness. It could also create division amongst the people, where they take different sides in this incident.

If I had a long string, I wouldn't test it because while I wouldn't die, I could still suffer some consequences from it. I wouldn't want to do something dangerous and end up paralyzed or whatever just because of something stupid.

The multiple POV's allow us to get a better understanding of how the different-sized strings affect people differently and how some people's lives change because of their string, such as shutting their businesses down because of their small strings, or how some people engage in riskier activities because they have a long string and believe they will be fine no matter what happens.

Nina and Ben are similar because both of them are shocked and uncertain when they receive the box that contains a string assumed to predict the day of their death. When Nina learns this, she becomes more anxious and concerned about how it will affect her immediate life, such as her friendships. Ben's reaction is focused more on what it all means, such as life as a whole.

Yes, The Measure starts in medias res. The effect this has is that it creates tension and curiosity early on in the novel.

If I were to receive a box, I would open it so I could use my time more efficiently and enjoy it to the fullest. I would want to use my time as best as possible.
