This is NOT the movie. The movie is a feel good story of a simple man with no depth or thought doing the right thing at the right time. This is the story of a complex idiot-savant who wants badly to do the right thing but is a messy human with faults and flaws.
Read the book, but know this is not the same Forrest. Like bacon and sausage can come from the same pig, there are similarities but you won't confuse them.
