As we get to the end of the book the author has started to use mainly dialogue in his writing rather than showing the two different lives of sage. The author has started to do this to bring the feeling that sage and len are becoming close with eachother.

I often disagree with Len because she is very superstitious and thinks that random things affect her personal life that have nothing to do with it. I think Len acts this way because of what her parents tell her about superstitions.

Adversity impacts Sage's perception of herself in the book. She sees herself as alone throughout her injury, but later, Len gives her a sense of "empathy... because something in her life was terribly wrong as well" (Carpenter 161).

I learned about OCD and how it can affect the lives of people who have it. Some symptoms of OCD are wanting control over things and also being afraid of germs and things of that nature. That helps us understand why Len is always wearing gloves and talking about how dirty things are. It also helps us understand why sage struggles so much with her injury because she had no control over it.
