Finished the lunch portion of the book with the “Romantic Grilled Cheese”, which included Worcestershire sauce, and at first, I got really snooty about it, like, “ what is the taste of butter and hot cheese on bread not good enough for you?” and then I tried it and I loved it and now I’m gonna put Worcestershire sauce on grilled cheese from now on.

While St. Thomas isn’t my first choice for an island to stay on, the restaurant scene looks amazing!

I am not remembering a lot of stuff that happened in this book from when I first read it, or that the guy she’s traveling with kinda sucks. I think it’s possible that when I first read this back in highschool, I may have skimmed this book trying to find more romantic parts. 😩 💔

I appreciate how detailed the information about each island is. Even with locations of important places like hospitals, post office, where the hotels are in relation to the beach. Also a list of phone numbers for emergency situations. When I eventually go there, I will definitely take this book with me.

Another reread, I started this series in highschool and got three books in and stopped. Going back as an adult hoping to reread and finish the series! It’s easier to understand now and more gripping.

They have a few premade itineraries that you could possibly follow in these books. Admittedly I feel tired just looking at them. There’s like so much stuff to do, especially if you renew your passport and travel both to the American and British Virgin Islands!

The book starts with some best of’s the Virgin Islands, very helpful for last minute planners or the group of us with ADHD! Then a chapter about the history of the Virgin Islands which goes down about how you would expect a Caribbean island’s history to go. 💀 Also they give you the gist of the islands present day culture and activities.

The book is debunking a lot of myths, the problem is, if you tell other people the truth, they’ll probably think something is wrong with you. 💀

Just like last time, this book inspires me to listen to music and read poetry, especially Langston Hughes.

I know people are sick of the power of friendship, but I love the power of friendship! Especially when done well!

We finished the breakfast recipes! 🎉 the hospital food was not the most American, and it didn’t tell me how much Worcestershire sauce to add, but it was awesome! The Mexican Christmas omelette was bigger than I thought it would be. I’m not sure why butter was written twice in the ingredients, but that’s also what makes it the most American!

They made it to Albuquerque! I feel like the consensus of bad people to good people feels pretty realistic

I feel like the book has given me very compelling reasons why I should see myself as beautiful. If you know me, this is a thing I’ve struggled with most of my life, even at my own wedding. So I do feel beautiful for the first time in a long time.

I sense the scary part is coming soon and I am uneasy. Still love the book though

He’s crossing into Arizona now! I’ve been to California since reading this book the first time. Their depiction was pretty spot on, I think.

I’ve returned to this book after 10,000 years!

I remember liking this book when I first read it back in like 2004, but reading it again, I love it! I’m having a great time! It probably helps that I already know what’s going to happen.

Made a Rose and Peony Garland. Sadly I didn’t hand the neutral pinks that were in the picture, but adding the garland to my desk at work, it’s better that the colors are more vibrant and bright. It looks very pretty, I might make more but longer, even if it does take forever to cut out all the leaves.

Well the Breakfast at Hospital dish was not American tasting, and it definitely wasn’t hospital-food tasting, but it was sooo delicious! I loved every bite!

This is actually a reread! ✨ This was the first Kindle book I ever purchased, and I picked it because I liked the cover. There’s a little boy in the 80’s and his pos mom with the latest man in the revolving door of jerks she dates doesn’t like kids so she’s putting her 11 year old son on a bus in California and sending him to Pennsylvania by himself!! Will he survive?! I already know!

Wow! It appears Mr. Was like my grandpa in that they for some time worked with horses! 😮 I also learned that apparently some jockeys have to weigh 108 pounds in order to be one! That’s crazy.

I adore this man. He was so precious. 🥺

So I’ve done 2 recipes so far, the Magical Marinara and the Fortification Vegetable Soup which was way better then I thought it would be! I was nervous to make it, because I thought you had to soak lentils overnight, but I guess you can cook them up in like 15 to 30 minutes!

I’ve been going through these 3 smoothie recipes, and they have been delicious! They serve 2 but you can cut them in half for when you are just serving yourself. Except the third smoothie recipe, Apple Avocado Smoothie. I might not have to tell you what happens to apples and avocados if you cut them in half and save them for later…

I kind of stopped watching American Horror Story during freak show when they killed my favorite character, but apparently seasons after that have Leslie Jordan in them! So I might have to go watch them just because of that! …until they kill him in them and I become disillusioned once more!

I’m only on chapter 1 I’ve already had three laugh out loud moments. So far the book is so much fun only dampened by the knowledge and receive recently that this awesome man passed away from a car accident in 2022. While I am tremendously bummed out by that knowledge, I can’t help but smile, listening to his audiobook, narrated by himself.

The marinara turned out good, (I did spring for the immersion blender, but I’m going to be very frugal until the next paycheck.) It was a little thin, but they gave directions for thickening it up, I just got excited…

Now we have come upon several lists of different foods and their usual correspondence to magic.

To describe how to make a magical meal, they’re using a magical marinara sauce as an example. I think I’ll go out later and get some ingredients for making it. Not sure if I’m going to purchase an immersion blender, though luckily it says you can use a potato masher and I definitely have that.

They recommend ways to make your cooking space more fun and magical and then they include how to infuse ingredients with magic and intention.

Not at the recipes yet, but they’re trying to help you “reinvision your cooking techniques through a magical lense.” I think it adds to the experience.
