Still loving how fast paced these books are- keeps you on your toes and makes the plot twists more surprising. This is the first fantasy trilogy I’ve read and it’s cool.

I love how this story is being told, bouncing back and forth between all of the main Greek Tragedies and then focusing on just then Trojan Women, with other little side stories sprinkled within.
Stories of tragedy but also the greater strength of women.

I don’t think I’m a Freida fan…. this book was highly predictable and feels like it should be read by the youngins. I usually like psych thrillers but this has just been meh.

These words are true:
“This is what we field biologists live for: the chance to be outside in the vital presence of other species, who are generally more interesting than we are. We get to sit at their feet and listen.”…”These are just ways we have of crossing the species boundary, of slipping off our human skin and wearing fins or feathers or foliage, trying to know others as fully as we can.”

Just a few of the many words that resonate with me as I read today:

“‘You know, they came here thinking they’d get rich by working on the land. So they dug their mines and cut down the trees. But the land is the one with the power— while they were working on the land, the land was working on them. Teaching them.’”

I love how each chapter has the same structure and how the stories are split into three sections within the book. Definitely taking this one slower so I can absorb all of her words!! So so beautiful and really makes me stop and think about things.
