Oh goodness this is catching a major itch

Second to last book in the Ottessa Moshfegh gauntlet and I am very pleased so far

“Her short stories were rejected by the publishers, some of whom said that they were very far from reality. She’s going to try to write a story within the “reality” of others, but that would be debasing herself.”
