Onto step 2: and here’s some thing I may or may not give a fuck about:

Finished part one. All I got to do is jot down a list of things that are usually on my mind, find things that pisses me off the most and decide to not give a fuck to anything.

It’s up to me to decide to get me into a “Not-Give-A-Fuck” mode.

Oh and one more tip, don’t be a fucking idiot.

Learned a few more tips:

Know where the line is and don’t be an asshole.

Always think about it in your head before you decide to fuck around.

Always respect other people’s opinions, no matter how shitty.

When an opportunity arises, either it’s worth a fuck or not. Sometimes you get so drunk, you shit out a fuck without knowing it.

Just going through the steps so far: there are three types of people who don’t give a shit: children, assholes & the Enlightened.

I also know the importance of when, where and why to actually give a shit. It’s going to be a long time before I know how to give a shit (figuratively speaking), but this self help book can help.

I’m starting to read this self-help book about not giving a fuck. Now, there will be a copious amount of swearing, but honestly, I don’t give a shit.

Anyway, I’ve just found out about the “Not Sorry Method” and it looks like I need to sort my fucks out into two categories: “Fucking Annoying” and “Joyful as Fuck”.

Finished Chapters 30 & 31, where Alex goes to her final confrontation, but the true mastermind is about to reveal themselves.

Well, those were some big chapters, and they had some ground breaking revelations surrounding the mysteries of Tara & the previous cold cases. Still though, I do appreciate developments that are mind-blowing for the right reasons.

Finished Chapters 28 & 29, where Alex Stern’s mother visits and some overdue evidence is found that would blow the case wide open.

Looks like we are closer and closer to the true villain of the story and the final confrontation with them. I do got to say, this story has many plot lines, but at least it doesn’t overwhelm you with a bunch of information, unlike Babel.

Finished Chapters 26 & 27, where Alex’s bad night gets worse.

Looks like we have disposed of one of the most vile people in the book, but we are still not at the end of the book, even though it feels like the end of the book. It appears that we have a little post final boss scenario on our hands.

Finished Chapters 24 & 25 where Alex & Turner go to see Lance to get some information out of him, and after that, Alex goes to a summoning.

Ok, so the good news is, we have some more information on the murder mystery of Tara Hutchins, the bad news is, looks like a member of school is lost for good. Also, I like how the storylines criss-cross each other, although I can understand the criticism that may come out of it

Finished Chapters 22 & 23 where Alex Stern, Dawes & Detective Turner, with a little advice from the other side, team up to investigate the murder of Tara Hutchins.

Looks like we are getting into the meaty details of the book, since we are now in the big investigation now and Alex’s knowledge of what she learned so far is being put to good use. I’m not sure, but this book is more fantasy noire than action.

Finished Chapter 21, where Alex is picked up by Detective Turner, goes back to her residence to heal up and learn how the bridegroom died.

Looks like we have learned the backstories of both the Bridegroom & Alex Stern. To be honest, this is a pretty good book, even if the mysteries twists with each other to varying degrees of perplexity. Looks like we are knee deep in the third act, let’s see how it ends.

Finished Chapter 20, where we see Alex Stern battle with a gruff mechanic.

Ok, so we know a little bit more about Alex’s power range, but we also know a new type of enemy that Alex is struggling to deal with. Luckily, the police is on her side.

Finished Chapter 19, where we uncover the day that changed Alex Stern’s life and the day that her junkie friend died.

Ok, so we finally solved that mysterious backstory and we are sure that to ere is more to Alex then the sum of her parts, and it’s a nice payoff to the build-up that was hinted at in the previous chapter. Now all that’s left is to uncover the two murder mysteries of the present.

Finished Chapter 18, where Darlington takes care of the weather & a portal, while uncovering a potentially terrible truth about Alex.

Wow, so this story may have been built on the same boat as Gone Girl… or maybe it’s told to us by an unreliable narrator who is twisting the narrative to fool the readers into thinking one thing that distracts from the other. Needless to say, we are nearing the end of Act 2

Hey there everyone, finished Chapter 17, where Alex investigates Tara’s apartment.

Ok, so there’s actually stakes being raised, and since there is a mystery, whenever our characters find any sort of clue that advances the plot, chances are that there will be an enemy on their tail. And boy, this chapter has a tough enemy.

Finished Chapter 16, where a pervert gets his comeuppance.

Another short chapter, so I guess that side story is done.

Finished Chapter 15, where Alex gets a substance from Manuscript and goes to investigate the perverts.

Ok, so a pretty short chapter here, even though we are putting the big mysteries on a big hold for now. Maybe we can get back to the main story once the pervert side-hustle is all said and done.

Finished Chapter 14, where Alex investigates around Yale and catches up with her old roommates.

Well, we are heading to the mystery section of the book and we are delving deeper into the old mystery that the book has been hinting at, while the main mystery is still being investigated. Also, it looks like one of Alex’s old roommates is currently having a bad time.

Finished Chapter 13, where we learn about Darlington’s backstory and how he ended up at Yale in the first place.

To be fair, it is an inform story backstory about Darlington’s life and how his surroundings change over the course of his life. It does give a hint at how he began his Yale scholarship, but it’s at the very end of the chapter. Anyway, we’ve got some mysteries to uncover.

Finished Chapter 12, where Alex & Daws go to Wolf’s Head so they can look further into Tara’s murder, only to get another job at investigating a cold case.

Looks like we’ve are getting two murders that needs to be solved by our protagonists. Either there are societies at Yale that wants those deaths hidden, or someone is trying to kill Alex so she won’t solve the murder, just like the previous cold case.

Finished Chapter 11, where Alex recovered form her Gluma attack, and finds unexpected allies in both Dawes and a Grey.

Well, looks like we’re going deeper into the book’s mysteries. Someone is setting up Alex as a nutcase, although the school isn’t as pleasant as it seems, as it’s various societies bring with them unexpected baggage that messes with people (emotionally, mentally and/or physically)

Finished Chapter 10, where we take a switch to see Darlington’s past, as he is hooked on boy who can see visions of a destroyed amusement park in the past, and then, at the Manuscript party, he gets a vivid hallucination.

Ok, so we are getting Darlington’s side of the story, which may have explained how he met another person who can see Greys. Still though, Darlington is pretty suspicious about Alex Stern.

Finished Chapter 9, where Alex sleeps over at Darlington’s place hoping to put the whole investigation work on hold, but gets attacked by a sinister ghost, or Grey as they call them.

Well, well, well. Looks like we’ve got an interesting development on our hands. Someone doesn’t want Alex to go snooping around, but who? I’m betting it’s Detective Turner, you never expect the most law-abiding ones to be evil

Finished Chapter 8, where Alex goes to the morgue to check up on Tara Hitchens body for any clues, and then run into Detective Turner again.

Ok, so there’s something fishy going on at the secret society that Alex attends. I’m not sure, but it may involve necromancy and cult-like killings. Can’t wait to read more about it.

Finished Chapter 7, where Alex gets some specific information from the library, while we learn about Alex’s backstory and how she was a victim of ghostly sexual violence.

I know I shouldn’t have spoiled a major part of the book, but I got to put a trigger warning on this chapter somehow. Anyway, we have two timelines already and we are now on the one where Tara Hitchens is murdered.

Finished Chapter 7 where Alex and Darlington protect a ritual ceremony.

Well, looks like we’ve have more to Alex Stern the. It appears, almost as if there is some kind of connection between her strange ability & the Greys. I guess there will be a plot twist brewing for the later parts of the book, but we will get to them later. Besides, I’m officially hooked.

Finished Chapters 4 & 5.

Last Fall: Alex gets a tour around her flat with Darlington. Then in the Winter, she has a chat with the bubbly Balbalm.

Ok, looks like we’ve got backstory and set up that happens after Alex witnessed the aftermath of a murder. Goes to show that we are building on something. I’m not sure if Alex’s ability to see Greys have any importance, but we will get to that later.

Finished Chapter 4, where Alex Stern recalls a few jackels, takes a stroll looking at Grays in the Gymnasium, and goes to a crime scene.

Well, the non-linear aspect of the story is an enticing way to keep the reader hooked into the story, and even the chapter names are named after seasons, which also captures moments in time, keeping with the non-linear aspect of the book. Still though, I’m feeling a bit hooked.

Finished Chapter 2, where Darlington accompanies a new freshman, or “Dante” as they call her, Alex Stern, around the campus and discuss about the history of secret societies and magic.

Ok, so we got a bit of lore-building going on here, and while last chapter showed us a glimpse of Alex’s power to see ghosts, this chapter has bits of Darlington’s backstory thrown in. I think this book is interesting.
