Lowkey, Dara is a cry baby. Like sorry your family died but that doesn’t mean you get to be racist now??? “You didn’t grow up In my world, you don’t understand” is such a move horrible people pull when they know they are wrong. And him leaving her in the desert after saying all that horrible stuff to and about her?? I don’t feel bad for him.

Ugh. I hate that we skipped time again, I feel like I know nothing of Nahri and Dara’s relationship, it’s been growing off page. And I wanted to see her steal the horses and see them work together maybe. It feels like we are learning all about the world from Ali’s perspective and his chapters seem longer.

Odd, I feel like Ali’s story is exactly what powerless was trying to do with Kai. Except Ali is likable and Kai was repulsive. I like that he’s struggling with his belief system and morals, it makes him feel real. I also like that his father is just like a cartoonish evil villain. He seems to care about his sons, he cares about his people.

It’s been two weeks and Ali hasn’t done anything to save Anas or like help the Shanti???? It doesn’t feel like he’s even thought about them.

I’m so obsessed with this book. Reading it is so effortless, I just lose myself in the story🫶 it’s not even remotely boring

I don’t love the time jump we did, I would have loved to see Nahri and Dara bonding a bit more, I feel like we’ve missed a key part in their relationship build up, like suddenly she knows him better then we (the reader) does because she’s spent a week with him and we haven’t.

Why am I about to cry??? I love Hanno and Anas and I’m started to like Ali a lot too😭

Idk how I feel abt the child murder. It happened like two pages ago and they seem over it but I’m not🧍‍♀️

Ok, I love how immersive this book is! I will say the description of her surroundings is a bit lacking. I’m very confused on how the graveyard looks but that could just be me being dumb. This also might be stupid but low key, demons, gouls, and fire spirits? A great Halloween book?? I think so😌 oh! And shockingly I like the love interest so far🫶

Chapter 2! So good so far🫶 I love Nahri. I think she really cares. I love the history in this book and learning new things from it lol. The world magic system is intriguing, the writing very vivid.

I love Nahri sm already. This book already has me drawn in! I’m so excited🫶

This book is not very good:/ I’m actually so disappointed. I think the main reason I don’t like it is because I don’t like the main character very much. Idk she just comes off as whiney to me. Always complaining about how weak she is but she’s always killing vampires- who are supposed to be so much stranger and faster and better- very easily without rlly getting hurt herself.
