Not liking the author’s style so far. He goes from throwing in unnecessarily fancy words (even in dialogue) to avoiding fine diction to just not be woke. Instead of writing the area was gentrified, he writes “”gentrified” was a word often used to describe the area.” And he says “illegal” instead of “undocumented.” I’m only 5% into the book but these stand out next to his effort everywhere else.
