I know that the freshman from the “My Roommate Stole My Ramen” tales seems like a red flag because of her inner dialogue, I think it’s what makes her human. I think that Jesse really captured intrusive thoughts and conflicting life views perfectly, and that makes sense because he’s an anthropology major.

This is actually a well-written book. So far, I enjoyed the little chapters about the food reviews. It has so much depth and the characters have so much complexity. I connected and related to many emotional aspects. Well done, Jesse Eisenberg! Somehow both incredibly famous and criminally underrated at the same time.

I feel so bad for the main character. Asshole mum and asshole dad.

What a racist mother 😭😭 my heart sank reading the Iraqi restaurant part 💔 The main character (a child) is confused why his mother’s like that. Racism isn’t born, it is taught.

Just finished the short chapter about the sushi place, very hilarious! I could definitely imagine it coming from the thoughts of a privileged 9-year-old. I love food, so I think I’m going to enjoy the food review chapters. I found the rice description a bit weird though. As an everyday rice-eater, there’s definitely zero similarities between rice and crustless bread.

Percy jumping up and down maniacally is hard to imagine 😂
