why are the characters suddenly becoming intriguing ??

mmmm, nothing super eventful

so cute! I love the mini stories surrounding the protagonist. The writing/translation comes off like a mans writing ( when our character is a girl ) but it's OK because it's charming enough that the thought fades 👌🏽

I love the way analogies are used. Usually the analogies utilize crops/vegetables and animals. I find it more descriptive than just outright saying "wife" or "protection and provision".

I do find it unfortunate that Christian ideology has such a massive presence in this book due to colonialism. I wonder what their true lessons were before the Spanish presence.

Some parts got better/are interesting. I just wish the whole plot didn't teeter so much. I also wish conflict didn't arise so late in the book :p

I really hate this book. There is no plot. There is no conflict that is long-lasting. The writing can hardly paint a picture of the scene or even portray feelings in great detail.

Books like these makes me feel like I can achieve anything because if someone read this and went through with publishing... I can do anything too

I read the first page and knew I would greatly dislike it. The author hardly can paint a vivid scene. It's as if I'm reading a high school creative paper by someone who's half-assing it. I can only hope that this book becomes better as it progresses

I forgot that the age of consent use to be 13 in Japan. I will not be elaborating on that any more because I got the heebee jeebees.

This book is smut but in boy perspective 😔

The author is in a literal cult?!? The way he keeps talking about the cultist that favours Hafiz is absolutely nuts.

I personally don't like poetry and so when I read these poems it takes me awhile to even grasp how it's even considered a great work. Whether it be the translation or just my disdain for poetry; I find the whole experience exhausting.

I think the book has been good so far in telling tales of norse gods. The fun facts sometimes are placed in the "wrong" areas. Often, I must flip back to the fun fact because it was in the middle of a story - sometimes the fun fact not having much relevance.

The author also uses Finnish spelling but seems to focus more on Sweden's myth recordings. Rather strange tbh

I like the book so far! It tells the tale of Genghis, mongolian customs and spirituality of the time, and how other civilizations viewed the nomadic mongols. The book has a nice mix of narrative and information.

There are lots of points in the book where it'll discuss Genghis's struggle of securing alliances or being respected... then the next line is "he killed [person]". There have been many moments of silence

♡ setsuko is really adorable as a character
♡ the beginning of the chapter wasn't really engaging until the time travel bit
♡ ice cream soda is NOT an unusual drink

- the rules keep being repeated which is really ugh

- they keep reiterating that this character asks the wrong questions and is met with no reasonable/logical response. i'm tired of this repetition

- i disagree with this characters line of reasoning on visiting her dead parents. it seems really illogical and the counter argument of her being born is real dumb too. abortions are fine 👍🏽
