I find Violets need to essentially replicate— become the woman in her husbands infidelity. Fascinating. Although it’s uncanny, desperate and disturbing. She can’t seem comprehend the wrongness in that nor her husbands fault. The obsession and her view of love is unlike any other. And it’s evident in how good Toni writes.

I wish the book stirred away from typical romance novels. Reminiscent of wattpad in some essences, especially in dialogue. I need the characters to have more depth and complexity, like Olivia is 23.

It’s a very lighthearted, cutesy book thus far, writing is very clear. I enjoy the two main characters—Olivia is beyond ambitious to a fault, and Zeke doesn’t seem to sure about himself. However I love the cultural aspects and diversity, I can connect well to themes.

“[..]Sometimes when Violet isn’t paying attention, she stumbles onto these cracks like the time when instead of putting her left heel forward, she stepped back and folded her legs in order to sit in the street.” (Pg 23)

My opinion of the book thus far is the writing is so good. The author writes in a way that can capture multiple stories in one sentence— I feel the need to reread paragraphs to clearly understand what’s happening. Moreover the character Violet is insane, terrifying, and a volatile person but her complexity is intriguing and intricate.

Yea… I have no idea where to begin. Gosh this book is an emotional rollercoaster—I’ve cried,laughed and screamed and I’m not even done yet. There’s so much to expand on but the writing is beautiful, and the characters are touching. This book is definitely a think piece.

I’m throughly enjoying the book so far, the characters are so compelling, complex and they just have so much depth to them. And then plot and writing is keeping me on my toes. 💕
