Halfway through, thinking I was reading something groundbreaking about LATAM immigration into the US, Kindle Unlimited prevented me from going further. I then read a review from a MexAm who said it was “harmful, appropriating, inaccurate, trauma-porn melodrama.” Apparently there are more accurate books about the issue written by those within Mexico and the MexAm community, so I’ll RQ one of them from Libby.

💗 Kristin Hannah’s historical fiction and meant to read this book for a while. Ironically, I started right B4 a biz trip to France. Unbeknownst to me, it was re: the Nazi occupation of France in World War II so I would actually be seeing many of the sites that I would be reading about! It brought a new perspective to my visit and one that I may try to duplicate in the future before traveling to a destination.

Love it.

I read the first chapter, then switched to listening while preparing dinner. I’m not sure if I just don’t like the narrator or if I am no longer interested. I’m moving on.

First chapter landed and I’m hooked.

My heart goes out to Virginia every time I turn the page.

Curious to see where this story is headed.

As a true crime enthusiast, and follower of all legit news on this particular case, I am not disappointed. Learning about the victims is a key difference in this book so far.

Although interesting, this book skips around so much that it’s difficult to comprehend. I wish they would’ve gone in date order, staring with one Kennedy at a time and everybody that he or she wronged and then moved onto the next. God knows there’s enough material to work with. I’m only continuing to listen because I’m at the pool and didn’t want to read on my Kindle. Good effort, but I’m out.
