So watched the new series first episode and two separate ASOIAF nerds (who are lovely) both told me it was worth reading the novellas before watching more of the show. So I may binge this at the weekend! (Sorry, Arya chapter in ACOK I have yet to start). Already love the illustrations in this edition, cheers Honi for lending me the book 🫶 glad to join my nerdy crew.

Sunshine and Mary Oliver and I saw a buzzard perched on a tree ado the motorway. Joy is not made to be a crumb.

A wonderful Christmas present (thank you Isobella). I’m gonna read a few on the bus every morning. Hashtag mindfulness. More Mary Oliver has been what I’ve needed in my life for a long while.

Okay mid reading. I’m soooo fascinated by this. The album I’m deciding is its match rn is Mitski’s Be the Cowboy, strange Americana surrealist realism.

So nice to read a graphic novel before bed. Like it’s a mini movie in my head. You can fill so much in between the panels. There’s a real filmic quality to the story telling so far. Hope Ari Aster is developing this as I write this

A character was described as “crusty people” and I adore this choice.

Mr Rochester, I’m pretty sure this what Henry VIII invented divorce for. Also chapter 27 is crazyyy intense and spiralling and I hate him and how he speaks here. And I’m glad Jane left him at that moment.

Spilled coffee mid chapter 16, but this book is WELL READ and LOVED so far

Put on some acoustic Hozier lightly in the background as I read tonight, pondering how he was surely influenced by Heaney in his earthy lyricism. Then I read a poem (The Singer’s House) which I’m pretty sure Hozier has indirectly referenced by pondering the sounds of Irish place names in Butchered Tongue just like Heaney does here. Feeling so literarily transformed right now.

Just got my first book from the LIBRARY with my new LIBRARY CARD!!!!!!!! What a poem ‘Digging’ is.
