The description of soaring into the future was beautiful - the days passing as the sun rises and falls within a few seconds. A full moon withering into a sliver while the stars remain the same.

It feels like I’ve been reading for so long but I’m just now only half way through. I’m still enjoying it, there is something notable about seeing Damon’s childhood play out in great detail. My heart was racing when the lot lizard robbed him. As a reader, you’re just waiting for the ball to drop with the good life he finally has. He admits he spent the whole time anticipating it.

Can’t put it down

Nothing very exciting, but a very heartfelt and enriching story. It’s never too late to start living the life you want - even if you didn’t know you wanted differently before.

It is frustrating watching Jane walk away from Edward. I understand the reason, but it seems to me if you truly love someone so passionately, you couldn’t leave. Although, I say this living in a completely different society where people have more freedom to bend the rules.

I expected things to turn out worse for Jane at Lowood, but she ended up being quite successful. I naively assumed Charlotte’s tale would be similar to Emily’s in Wuthering Heights, wherein the protagonists were constantly wronged. Although, I doubt there are no obstacles to Jane’s love story and I am curious to see how it plays out.

I fear Miss Temple is too good to be true and somethint bad will happen to her. Either death or termination from the school

I’m so glad I picked this up - for some reason it wasn’t in my English curriculum in high school. The society represented seems both impossible and possible. It is not only thought provoking, but Winston’s character arc is entertaining. He goes from curious to completely “awoken”, lonely to in love, etc.

The timeline is interesting - one story is going backwards and the other forwards. Also, one storyline is in first person and the other is in third person

Took a few chapters for me to grasp the story. I’ll have to go back now to the beginning now that I am actually acquainted with all the characters. The explanation of younger Catherine’s relationship to Healthcliff made no sense to me at first. Now that I know the backstory, I will actually understand what happens in the first chapter and why it intrigues Mr. Lockwood.

It’s heartbreaking to hear Anne write about her future once the war is over knowing that she doesn’t survive. All of the matters that upset her would surely seem trivial to her if she only knew.
