I always learn something when I read Laura Kinsale...be it vocabulary, history or romantic wisdom. She is totally at the top of her game. I liked this story so much that I googled to see if there was a sequel (alas no). I would love to know how each character fares 20 years hence. Isn't that the best critique you can give an author? That her characters live far longer than the last page turned.

I liked this book. Characters are believable and easy to like/dislike. Would make a good movie.
