this is extremely horny

“I am too ardent in execution, and too impatient of difficulties.”

he’s just like me fr

PLEASEEEE BE GOOD I NEED A WIN

WHEN will I read a 5 star fantasy again I’m so tired

ah yes nothing like a convo with a pretty girl to distract you from being in your childhood home where your whole family was murdered and then usurped

is this author incapable of writing any semblance of emotion?

vis is such a mary sue it’s so uninteresting

why do y’all love this book so much? I can’t even scavenge something to LIKE? this is so goddamn bland

if I didn’t pay full price for this hardcover best believe I would be dnfing this

god I forgot how little I care about this damn book

what’s the deal with male authors writing dystopians where their “hero” has to kill someone supposedly on their side in order to keep up their facade to the oppressive society?

I mean it’s just this and Red Rising but it’s weird it’s happened twice, right?

I knew reading this shortly after Aphrodite in Pieces would be a bad idea

this simply is just not as good

I still don’t understand why Cal hates himself so much but I guess there doesn’t need to be a reason

“I hate her because I know why she went away. I know—because I’ve got her in me.”

OOF that hurt bitch

“When the first innocence goes, you can’t stop— unless you’re a hypocrite or a fool.”

“I moan in response, and then I leave. I leave my body and it is as if I’ve watching us from above. It doesn’t look painful, or difficult. It looks like I’m enjoying it. It is over quickly.”

this is fantastic

“We have only one story. All novels, all poetry, are built on the never-ending contest in ourselves of good and evil. And it occurs to me that evil must constantly respawn, while good, while virtues, is immortal.”

so cathy is indeed a little evil and I still love her SUE ME

I can see how complex Lee as a racial character in classics is so contentious. definitely a case in which I wish I was in a classroom while reading this for sure

“Virginia Woolf would have LOVED Grindr”

this is hilarious

“I don’t very much believe in blood. I think when a man finds good or bad in his children he is seeing only what he planted in them after they cleared the womb.”

I’m so bored with this but then Steinbeck pulls some absolute bangers out that makes me forget how bored I am

there’s just so much detail about so much I don’t care about at all

this series is just so FUN

“If the world expected me to be bad, why not be worse?”

“I am guilty of honoring my heart but that is all, Aphrodite confessed, “And I still believe my vices are less problematic than your virtues.”

OOF girl it is gonna take an incredible author to ever make me sympathize with hera because why are you so evil to these women

I have to imagine even misogynistic Greek men knew about “pick me” girls

“I remembered you, Miriam, and I knew that the only death I’d ever want would be the one you’ll give me.”

“I love you, and I hate you, more than I have ever hated anyone. I see it now: you must love someone to truly hate them. They must give you something before they can take it away.”

oh my godddddddd

“A little death. That is what I’ve heard some people call it. Will you die for me today, my love?”

this is PERFECT

“We invented love, he and I. Not the poets or playwrights. Us. Ares and I have experienced every first you can imagine.”

UGH

“When I faced Olympus, I wouldn’t just be pretty.”
