It’s all just play

I loved the first chapter of this… So charming and I’m immediately invested in the two leads!!!

“I am glad for her to practice on me, and perfect for her touch.”

PHEWWW… so intimate and such a wonderful way to describe this feeling

I LOOVE the way Lucy’s feelings towards emotional/physical intimacy with Susannah feel so raw and genuine. I share her sentiment where she kind of revels in the fact that her relationship with her feels like it doesn’t have the strict rules or expectations that her het friends talk abt w/their encounters with men

“I think, I would be the microbes in the beef that her body seeks and destroys if it meant she would be paying me even the slightest bit of attention. The warmth and the wet of her mouth.”

And it is that serious

“I think you’re afraid this is the last beautiful thing that’s going to happen to you, and you want to hold onto it”

Ahhhh this line made my heart so tender… I think it’s easy for me to connect with especially at this point in my life. Luv Jess so much!

I truly believe there’s a type of self-awareness that can only be gained through the intense self exploration and understanding that queer ppl MUST undergo to become a version of themselves that’s completely them and soooo different from what we’ve been told to be. I don’t think I could ever be with someone who lacked that… This chapter tore me UP in all the best ways😭🩷

I looooove the line “These were burly, big-shouldered he-she’s who carried their womanhood in work-roughened hands.” The idea that womanhood can look SO vastly different than the way it’s been defined for us is sooooo important to me. I love that this book treats that idea like second nature!

Wow what a start to the day! I get reminded SO much of my relationship with my mother while reading this😭

It’s so hard not to tear up a little every couple of chapters

I’m obsessed w the imagery in this book… I’m feeling nostalgic over a random town in Oregon that I’ve literally never been to.

I’m really just not super impressed with the writing hear. I think the premise is really interesting though and I’m hoping the more I read the less vague the memory police itself becomes
