Fucking obsessed.

The people saying this book is slow or shitty and giving bad reviews are fucking cracked. Not sure what they’re reading (or smoking) that makes them believe this is poor writing. This books is the most addicting MASTERPIECE I’ve read in the past 20 years. Yarros is fucking with my heart every turn, and I’m obsessed. I’m convinced that those giving 1-3 stars are doing it because it’s “cool” 🙄 losers

I am strruuuuggling. It has gotten so boring and repetitive. I’m sick of all the struggling artist living in NYC bs. Henry is so boring and his friends are so reminiscent and stereotypical of any show you watch about young adult artists living in NYC. It feels like the author wrote the book to be a movie. It had so much potential.

Both characters sell their souls for surprisingly shallow reasons—one to avoid marriage/being stuck, the other due to feeling inadequate. These motivations feel underwhelming compared to the usual stakes of such a drastic choice, making their decisions seem more self-indulgent than meaningful.

Love the magic system.. very unique and creative. The writing is mid, reads kind of YA unless you’re reading the spice. Not a fan of the whole “Monster Treaty/monster” phrasing, very YA and unimaginative. Dig the MMC though and the FMC is also not intolerable.

Struggling with this one. A lot of things were added in as an afterthought, like she planned to end it at the first book but decided to write the second & didn’t really plan it out. I’m so over these characters, especially Jericho. I find myself skimming through the Baron chapters. The pregnancy is giving Bella vibes. Jericho’s “developments” feel forced and like a convenient way to spice up the smut. 👎

Taking a break. The pacing slowed and I’m getting bored, plus it’s spooky season and I wanted to try a horror-themed novel.

Only 15% in and I’m hooked. The world building is well-written and easy to follow. Not at all an info-dump. It’s fast-paced and character introductions are extremely smooth and not forced. I’m getting some Shadow and Bone vibes from for some reason, but also GOT vibes from the world building, which is a pleasant surprise! I’m going to have a hard time putting this one down.
