Listening to this one! So far, I’m hooked!

This 2nd book HAS ME hooked! I love the introduction of the sister. The developing connecting between Dayn and Esme is getting there. I wish there was a little more time with them, but the plot is developing and I’m loving this story.

I have such mixed feelings at this moment! I love that the plot is thickening and it’s becoming so very interesting. But I hate the references! A reference to National Geographic or a horror flick to explain a feeling or scene. That just feels kind of disconnected for me. Of course I understand it, but I think it takes away from the unique world building.

Halfway through. I’ve always enjoyed Mel Robbins and the way her brain works. It’s just taking me awhile to get through the audio version of this book.

Happily making my way through this series, HOWEVER there are many things that others have mentioned in their reviews that I too have noticed. Is it enough to make me stop reading? Nope. I love the world building + magic system is super interesting without being confusing. The writing has definitely improved from the first book so I’m holding out hope that the remaining books are even better!

75% of the way through and I’m just frustrated! I love this series and enjoy the adventure, but this book could have been SO MUCH SHORTER. I’m sorry, but Geraldine’s chapters make me want to throw my book across the room. In general I’m skimming over so much of this book.

The story is there, the twists and excitement is there, but this didn’t need to be such a long and exhausting book.

Currently at 47% and I’m STRUGGLING! The beginning honestly had me. I was sold. And then something switched. The writing felt off, the growth of the characters feels so underdeveloped. The pace is KILLING me. I probably won’t finish it at this point. Part of me wants to know what’s next but I don’t think I can sit through this any more. The FMC’s soul is crushed and I FEEL for her.

This book captured me in such a surprising way. The mystery, the chemistry. The pace is just right. I can’t wait to get my hands on book #2!
