A menopausal mother spends a week on vacation with her husband, grown children and elderly parents. Seems simple enough, right? And it is. But the author brings such authenticity to the characters and circumstances that I found myself feeling the joy and sadness but mostly joy that’s part of being in a family. And, that family doesn’t have to be riddled with dysfunction or sadness to make the story interesting.
