True to the blurb, Martin Villanueva displays rapt attention as he poeticizes the prosaic and the mundane

Still having a hard time finishing this. Not because it is dated but because I found the stories either uninteresting or ending abruptly without a neat and believable resolution.

The editor remarked in the preface he forced his students to submit a story for the sake of meeting a quota. Perhaps, this is the byproduct.

Ever caught yourself closing the book, needing a pause, to take it all in? I could've finished this in one sitting but found myself needing that momentary break. Lauren Slater is a great writer, blending critical, poetic, & personal analysis of MH, psychopathology, human relationships, and vulnerability. I like how it doesn't pander to the melodrama expected from this genre. An engrossing read, without a doubt.

Mixed bag of good, average, and not so good short stories.

I was about to sell my copy of this poetry collection until I read it and decided against my initial decision.

Casting judgments aside regarding the author's political ideology, Alfred Yuson is—without a doubt—admirably precise and layered with each word he uses.

A common dictum in writing poetry is to abide by the economy of words. Apropos of this regard, his imagery, metaphors, allusions, jouissance, and linguistic dexterity also figure prominently in this poetry collection.
