Oh what a delight to start the year with a book that is so well written!

I really enjoy the books in this series although I always feel a bit disappointed that the endings always seem a bit rushed as though the author ran out of his word allowance. The character of Reim is engaging, for all his faults, and the slightly dark humour carries the story well. I like the unusual setting.

This had better be good - recommended by a friend and former colleague who reckons it is nothing like the TV series (though I enjoyed the TV series) and so far I am inclined to think he was right to suggest it. So far, so good.

I accidentally started reading this instead of Murder at the University which was book 2 in the series. So far it does not seem to matter. I may as well continue and then go back a step!

Bother - Goodreads seems to be convinced I have read two of my books this year twice. I love reading but usually I leave a little more than a day between readings of the same book. It wouldn't matter but it does rather mess up my records for my reading challenge. I had better increase my goal by two, hadn't I?

I am enjoying this very gentle read after the trauma of my last book. This is the second Ann Cleeves book I have read, first in this series, and I find I like the style with which she writes. Waiting to find out whodunnit!

Beautifully crafted - a gentle and fascinating book by a real wordsmith. No thrilling adventurous plot or majestic fantasy, just the building of a relationship between two (three) beautiful people in unusual circumstances and their relationship with the mystery and perfection of number/mathematics. I can envisage finishing this book very quickly, it's so difficult to put down.

I made myself stop reading this last night in order to get some sleep. I reckoned 1/3 of the pages was a significant place to stop.... temporarily. In other words, this is hard to put down (and has the benefit of being less heavy to hold than American Gods was)

Re-reading as I had originally borrowed the book and had to give it back before I finished it. Even better than I remembered it so far and I am finding it difficult to put down.

Half way through - and still it proves a good read, though I am mystified as to how it is going to develop, bearing in mind I am already well into the story and still feel as though I am being introduced to the setting and the characters. Just have to keep on reading ;)

This took a lot of reading - Kindles lull you into a false sense of security because you don't register how long the book is going to be., loved the book but had to do a marathon read to finish it, only to discover that it's only the first of a trilogy and I'm left on tenterhooks, half wanting to know what happens next and half needing a change from reading the same book for so long.
Good but too long!

At last, half way through! I thought I was just reading slowly - never realised the book was 880 pages long. :) Still lots of adventure to go, then.

Reading this on the Kindle and currently about 10% through it. A good read so far. - in fact, it was not easy to put down this morning.
