I was about to compare this book to black mirror but the author is going beyond “what if tech bad”bc it’s showing the structural issues (ones we literally see today) that makes tech/AI so harmful for certain people (as we see it today). Pacing is not the most captivating but I already know that I really want to read more books like this going forward

after reading SOTR I decided to rewatch the movies after years and forgot how much they whitewashed and toned down the messaging - esp in catching fire like I couldn’t even finish it lol. so this is me reminding myself what Collins had to say about fascism and oppression and yes it’s way better than the movie

wow the magic system is kind of like coding, so so so cool. the world building and characters are so well written and I’m really enjoying this book so far!!

I thought this was going to be more like a Mariame Kaba -esque guidebook but it’s reading more like a memoir/collection of Black experiences in the US. It’s powerful and I hope it also gets more instructional
