Hmm. DNFing for now. I’m not sure I’m in the mood for a heist crew right now. Also because the family was introduced as children, despite the ‘19 years later’ drop, I can’t help seeing them as children. And they’re so over the top that I don’t see how the hero could match the Heroine, so far he seems pretty usual.

I’m not sure how I feel about the heroine but mostly I’m in a terrible reading slump where I can’t concentrate so I think I’ll have to come back to this one later

It’s just occurred to me that 1) the perfection of his acting and how he’s using it pretty much makes Adrian a conman and I LOVE conmen.
And 2) Sarre is a character too meaning that I assume in order to really fall for Caroline (and for her to fall for him) we’ll need to see Adrian stripped of his Sarre persona too.

I was enjoying the audiobook but it auto-returned to the library. I’ll have to take this out again when I have a commute again so i can finish it

Solid recipes but some chapters on things I’d never make like paella. Still I might want to own this one.

I’m finding Vincy’s books are following the same pattern for me. They are hard to start with because the heroes are so unsympathetic and jerky. (I had trouble with the heroine at first in this one too) But once we start to get backstory, it’s like the poignancy punches you in the gut. Her books are so emotional and sad and heartfelt. People trying their best after terrible upsets.

- it’s nice to read about a blond hero. I feel like they’re so rare
- the short emerald robe is SO hilarious
- Georgie seems SO young - not helped by her having to pretend to be 12 - I’m having a bit of trouble with her as a heroine
- well this hasn’t aged well: this definitely showcases all the potential homophobia in the ‘heroine disguised as a boy’ trope

It’s taken a long time for the H and h to meet up again - different pacing for sure. Things move a lot slower with a lot more description.
James Mallory is that classic old school take who is utterly bored with all women except, mystifyingly to him, the heroine. Why is he so intrigued?

There is a lot of backstory for the hero! I’m pretty sure most of the characters that got name dropped are heroes of earlier books? Otherwise why do we care?
Also wow on the hero with an illegitimate son! I’m not sure I’ve seen that before?
Also heroine is 22 - so young!

I love Travis ‘ combo of being both really cocky and having self esteem issues about being treated like entertainment etc. Georgie being the first person to stand up for him was so cute.

This book is seriously stressing me out! We just want them to end up ok! He hasn’t found out yet and now I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I feel that horror movie feeling because everything is so good but I know he’ll need to find out she’s a grifter before the end. I’m glad I know they’ll be together at the end. Even so I think I need to work up to reading more.

I feel like the emotional stakes are really high in this one, because of all we know about Dmitri’s past from last book n

I’m loving this conversation between Delilah and Tristan. This book wasn’t so much slow burn as it took them about 60 pages to meet each other, and as much as I enjoyed both characters immensely on their own, this conversation and their reactions to each other is what I love JAL for. Definitely a return to form
