Writing feels incredibly amateur wattpad level. But its got me interested thus far

A nice palette cleanser between Southern Reach books.

You ever have a story that just puts you in a good mood? One where youre drinking chamomile tea on the couch with your kitty in a blanket with you while a "The Smiths" song plays in the back on your mind? This book has me taking my time and slowing down to reread the descriptions. Its just such a cozy read- romance aside, the plot is gorgeous. I also love the Latin plant names being included, adds authenticity :)

much better than authority. loved the first chapter and wished the rest of the book stayed in the lightkeepers pov.

The books writing is very curt with no embellishments “She lies on top of the sheets. She licks her full lips. She scrutinizes the shadow on her ceiling” is literally line after line.

Love the realism, the animals still act like animals, but we get a glimpse into some of their human-like dialogue. The author does a good job with that. For example Merla the raven still sharpens her beak after she spoke about where the elk were
