Really helpful introduction to the subject. I’ve been taught a method of Biblical hermeneutics (which isn’t inherently bad!) which has bled over into how I view other books and the type of spiritual books I read. Developing a symbolic hermeneutic that doesn’t neglect the textual critical (but is informed by it) is necessary to glean meaning from spiritual books.
