Jesus this writing is atrocious

I’m still struggling. Nothing much has improved. It feels more and more like a YA Racism 101 fantasy novel with flat characters, boring dialogue, little to no atmosphere, and condescending overindulgent thematic storytelling. For all the time we spend in Robin’s head, he should be much more interesting than he is.

Not entirely sold on this book at this point. If it blows my mind later, I still have to contend with all that came before. It’s good for the most part, but man I struggled with a lot of it.
