Melissa Stacy is on page 258 of 496 of Count the Ways
This is so much a better book than "The Bird Hotel." So much more real life in this novel.

Also, I really hate Eleanor's husband, Cam. I despise this guy. He is peak King Baby hobosexual. He's mean, and he's a leach. Now he's leaving his wife for the babysitter, who only just turned 18? God, this guy is gross.

I'm sooooo glad that I haven't had to live Eleanor's life! Ugh.

This starts out really slow.

But about a third of the way in, things turn a corner.

The story starts to acknowledge that the main character (Eleanor) is full of repressed anger. And then a family tragedy occurs.

This section has kept me reading, rather than skimming. The writing is good.

This took a swift plot turn, and got a lot better. Became much more engaging.

Even so, I'll be glad when I'm done. But I at least feel some urgency to see how the author ends it.

Nothing has happened so far.

Bill Furlong is a Good Man with a good family. The wholesomeness is abundant in this book.

Holy moly, I'm so bored I have to take a break. Put this down and read something that will keep me awake.

The obligatory demonization of fatness has occurred. In which a horrible character is specifically tagged as horrible due to corpulence as well as nastiness.

Thanks, I hate it.

This book and me are oil and water. All the blech.

Wow, this book is boring.

Nothing is happening, and we're mired in backstory.

Not a fan.

(And the author is no fan of Australia, that's abundantly clear.)

In October 2023, an uncle pressed this book into my hands and asked me to read it.

Glad to say that today is finally the day to start it. One more chore on my chores list that I can (hopefully!) soon be finished with. :)

I started this book well over a month ago, but then life got super busy and I had to put it down. But what I have read has been excellent so far.

I look forward to finishing this.

Melissa Stacy is on page 140 of 336 of Wanted: Toddler's Personal Assistant
I got 46% of the way into the ebook, and could not continue. Just could not force myself to keep reading this book.

I skipped to around 84% and started looking for something that might hold my interest. Sadly, the text has only become more dull, tired, and lifeless. I know that those emotions are on point, because the author feels that way about her life and her job, right then in the book.

No fun to read, tho.

I read this book right after I finished "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts" and finished it within a week of starting it.

Five stars.

It was a breeze to read this book. No triggering content. I appreciated the takeaways very much.

This book started out so strong for me. I really enjoyed the first 40-50 pages.

But 80-90 pages in, I was just done with this one. I'm slogging through, but ugh, I have to force myself to pick it up.

Sadly, I'm not a fan of this novel. Not for me.

Finally finished reading this on Christmas Day. Yay, me!

This wasn't the best read for me, and I had to skim or skip over about 50% of this book, but I can tell why this is such a seminal book about writing.

Melissa Stacy is on page 32 of 96 of Phineas Gage: A Gruesome but True Story About Brain Science – An Award-Winning Medical History Book for Kids (Ages 10-12)
I found this book while cleaning out a company office this month. Someone forgot to return it to the library, and it was covered in dust, so it's obviously years overdue.

I decided to go ahead and read it before I mail it back to the library it belongs to. It's a lot of fun! I'm enjoying it. :D

Melissa Stacy is finished with Beauty Sick: How the Cultural Obsession with Appearance Hurts Girls and Women
This has been on my 'currently reading' shelf for so long that I decided to go ahead and finish it today.

I'm sure this book had its moments, but I wasn't learning anything, it just felt like a slog to get through, so this wasn't for me.

Mileage will definitely vary with this one.

A good book for people just starting out as writers. Page 20 was the only highlight for me so far, I'll make sure to quote that page when I write a review.

Melissa Stacy is on page 30 of 256 of Mom Rage: The Everyday Crisis of Modern Motherhood
This book is for everyone who skipped reading the self-help book "Fair Play," and you just want to read about mothers who are seething with resentment, bitterness, and rage.

This book is boring so far, and I'm learning nothing.

But for all the mothering people out there who don't already know that the 'adult toddler husband' is a thing, then this book might be helpful.

Mileage is definitely going to vary!

Hi friends,

Do you read erotica novels?

Would you be willing to beta-read an erotica novel for me?

I have one completed that I plan to submit to Entangled Publishing. But I was hoping to find a few more beta-readers before I send it off.

This is contemporary/non-magical erotica. Steam level is pretty high. All sex scenes with the protagonist are fully consenting.

Please message me if you can help.

Thanks! :)
