"should I just wait and masterbate" This book is quite strange but it is actually very sad. I just realized it's the same author as Kafka on the shore and I definitely see the resemblance in the writing style. The main character seems very detached from everyone else and we get to see other characters from a mostly unbiased lens.

What a fun date: eating food while talking about how she only wore 1 bra for a month, go to the roof to watch a building burn down, kiss on said roof, and then he found out she was seeing someone. This is an odd book.

The tone is so detached, it makes everything worse.

I might be making this up but this seems to partially be a metaphor for booktalk. The way they make the "perfect" guys that are just hot people who agree with everything they say and don't have personalities of their own, and the way the bunnies blend into each other reminds me of how everyone on booktalk has the same "hot takes" and the same shallow thoughts. It's uncanny I love it.
