Ilona Andrews, the writer(s) that you are! This is on par with the whole series, enjoying it immensely! Also, wasn't expecting to see a reference to Bulgaria as a location to one of the magical inns but it really tickled me!

There's one thing sure to put me off a book and it's a catch phrase. Still not sure what's happening but there are parts that feel very predictable.

What the hell is this? There is 0 chemistry between the king and her and yet stuff is happening and it's written as if they're wildly attracted to each other. There's been one trial (very boring), a cat fight which is not entirely out of the question considering how immature the fmc is, and a whole lot of self-loathing because even though she's supposed to be a badass (heavy on the supposed to) she's wildly insecure.

What am I reading?

Hold on, why am I reading a rendition of Throne of Glass? Not to say that the premise of a deadly trial that involves a criminal broken out of prison, a prince and a grumpy guard is an entirely original idea but it does very closely resemble Throne of Glass atm (only it does read more vulgar)

Well, I have to say I do find this way more entertaining now but I'm still not sure what all the hype is about! It feels weirdly paced; rushed but also way behind. I can already tell where some of the plot lines are going to go so i'm not enjoying it as much. Also, a lof of the spice feels so out of place most of the time. Maybe I'm just not experiencing it the same way everyone else is.

What a delight, actually. A positive representation of co-parenting and disability; people who actually communicate in a healthy manner, what a shocker!!!

Finally, this is getting interesting! So far I feel like this has been such an info dump but in such a clumsy way. The dropping tid bits in front of her while arguing feels like the vibe teenagers have when they're trying to be mysterious so they say something on purpose just to pretend they didn't mean to say it at all.
