I love this author's writing style! And the setting is so interesting! Also, idk if I should have expected this, but there are quite a few assassinations in this book lol
This is a middle-grade book, but it doesn't feel like it's just written for children--I'm sure adults would love it too.

I'm really loving this chapter on adoption; it's such a beautiful and encouraging truth and I love how much it's emphasized that our whole lives as Christians are built around this truth.

M. Paul is quite the fascinating character!

I had begun to cherish secret hopes about my dear main character, but I fear it is all come to naught. If only she wasn't so old (23 years old!) there would be hope; as it is, I have no earthly idea what will happen.

I'm loving this so much! I've been reading a chapter every night and it's so encouraging!
