Why am I becoming vegetarian

“Here is a story I learned from a bear: there was a queen, and she was lonely again”

I really liked this quote because it represented her abusive relationship perfectly. She will always come back and walk over you bc she knows you will allow it. You have always been there for her to stand on.

#105 “you do not realize how much you sing until she tells you to stop singing.”

“If I spoke Spanish, I could have told the boys that none of this was their fault. I could have made sure they understood—even if Americans do not—that people like us come to America because America was in our countries.”

“Story is the most powerful force in the world—in our world, maybe in all worlds. Story is culture. Story, like culture, is constantly moving. It is a river where no gallon of water is the same gallon it was one second ago. Yet it is still the same river.”

“But race is the child of racism, not the father”

Page 235 has a great quote. “Remember Joanna…..” until the end of the chapter. Talks about women hating women.
