DNF - I always try to read 100 pages before putting a book down, and really hoped this one would prove itself by the time I got there. It felt like if The Devil Wears Prada was about the UN in Iraq, with a cast of caricatures more exhausting than fun. I really liked the passages about Nadia’s past and at the women’s camp, but the rest felt like a chain of shenanigans more cringe than fun.

Never in my life did I think a novel would have the words “eruvim” and “halakhic” within its first two pages

Ignoring my TBR pile to return to a favorite ESJM instead (in honor of a new book coming this year!!)

Finally getting to some plot (this is why I don’t read romance)

Personally I would like a little more plot, but the other stuff is good, too
