fuck this book. i am not pretentious or attached enough to care about how many ways DFW can explain the same thing. it definitely earns its reputation as a performative douchebag book.

this is both wonderfully descriptive and incredibly boring. there are mountains of detail and imaginative descriptions, but basically no concrete story, characters or themes. i need someone who is in the cult of this book to tell me why they like it.
