Listening to the audiobook but I think I’m going to have to read this one in print. It’s so good. I want a highlighter

Switching between contemporary romance and Baldwin is making me dizzy

First half: pretty good fanfiction
Second half: Holy Fuck

I haven’t had this much fun with a book since Harry Potter was cool

I wasn’t that into it until about chapter 30 but things are coming together and the depth I was looking for is here

The audiobook narrator has the most beautiful voice. I could listen to her character voices forever.

Just finished The Kreutzer Sonata, so we’re nearly done. Imagine overhearing this conversation on the train. Transcendent.

I’m loving this book. I’ve laughed and cried. The first few chapters focused on the parents are excellent prose. My only criticism so far: it feels like wish fulfillment; the parents are so affirming of their gender non-conforming child as to feel sentimental. The social worker felt out of place, like a lesson for less informed readers. It’s cathartic to read, though, and I’m enjoying it more than realism.

Not a fan of the way the author includes Persian words and concepts without footnotes, I feel like I’m taking a vocab test
