A bit heavy going at the start, but once he gets into the story after seeing the scene it picks up. It needs a larger and more detailed map, though, in my edition. As he’s telling war history rather than retelling his own experiences I will forgive him! When he writes about his own experiences it is compelling. Hard to believe all the events in this book occurred either side of a 30km stretch of road in Normandy.
