I have to admit this had a slow start. I almost DNFed but it had been SO talked up by a vendor at a local bookstore that I kept pushing through. At about 25%, it picked up and I felt my interest increase...I started caring about the characters.
Now reading at a faster rate!

Only on page 8 and Im enjoying the banter! :)

"News flash, Kent!" i say sharply, altering the pronunciation of his name just slightly so it might sound like a female body part.

I have laughed out loud at some of the sarcasm and the banter... a fun light read so far. Not sure about her waking up snuggling his dick, but you know, weird stuff happens 🧐😳

Quite the evolution with this book! Loving Cresta, blunt, to the point and absolutely making me cackle!
Caldon has also grown on me...slowly through book 2 but now solidified in book 3!

And now Im crying!! Ooof!!

These days, I am not very interested in Covid storylines.
That said, I didn't know that was a part of the story in this book and I am really enjoying this story! The book suggestions are filling up my "want to reads" and I really love the chapters where the author breaks the fourth wall and talks to the reader directly about being a reader!

Well Chapter 1 just pulls you right in, doesn't it!!

So far, this book is super fun! It’s the literary equivalent of a fizzy drink—light, bubbly, and exactly what I needed between my more heavy, complex and emotional reads.

It reads like a cross between a D&D game and perhaps the ridiculousness of Monty Python. It doesn’t take itself too seriously—which makes me happy!

Right off the top, I will say that I am from the east coast. I haven't lived there in over 20 years now but the nostalgia is STRONG!!!

I am loving this book! I have met all these people in my life and I love the simple and authentic way they are all represented. Even Ethel who was making me a little nuts, has had some redemption!

I am really enjoyong this book! So far, super cozy, low stakes...casual mention of the world and its flying cats and merpeople.

So far I have found myself in bed unable to put the book down if that says anything! :)

That was just Chapter 1??? Live how this book jumped right into the action! This is going to be a ride!

I'm enjoying the story so far. It's like a snapshot of time in the life of the characters. Cal has made me grin a couple of times...I'm liking him a lot.

The story has drawn me in. Magic witchcraft and even some laugh out loud moments

Starting to see Luzia's wit and sarcasm. She's quick and is starting to clap back more and more. No patience for nonsense. I'm liking her.

So far, this book is awesome and and I really want to know more about the characters, the books, the whole world! (I have been working a lot so I haven't had the chance to sit with the book thus I'm not that far in, but I continue to be super invested!)

Anyone else find the mirror scene so deliciously creepy!!??

Quotes that immediately caught my attention on the first two pages....
"A last smudge of vivid red was slowly fading into the paper"

Invested!

This series was suggested to me for 2 reasons.

1) I have an interest in how different authors write about immortality in their books (So far, Jennifer Fallon's Tide Lord series is one of the best IMHO)

2) We lost our pup Oberon suddenly at 5 yrs. He was larger than life & I was told the canine, Oberon, in this series, is reminiscent of him.

Just started but am enjoying the characters and mythological references!

At 75% .... all I will say is THE CONCERT SCENE!!! 🥰🤯🥳

Enjoying the book so far.
Not sure how I feel about the Providence cards as a plot point....I love a good tarot or oracle card discussion/mystery.....but they feel kind of clunky to me.
It says there are twelve but they are mentioning (seen glowing) so often that it feels as though there must be dozens?

Nightmare is an interesting creature. I am super curious about his endgame!

There are less than 100 pages left! I'm so pissed and angry for Arkady!
Is this book going to end with a cliffhanger??

Luckily, I have book 2 all ready to go!!

I am really enjoying this book so far!
It had a great pace and the world building in just enough detail to keep me interested without being too verbose.
The delivery of the exposition of Cayal, his story, his history and the world of the Tide Lords is so well done! I find myself at times wanting to skip ahead to his next narrative scene!
Also, the twist I just read.....unexpected!!!!
