This book would be a lot shorter (and probably better) if they would just bone

I wonder what reading this book is like if you're not super well versed in the slasher horror genre. I'm assuming Lynette is the Laurie Strode of the group but we'll see

Somebody please explain the swapped nerve endings to me. Is our main man Metcalf really bitter about women because his dick is twice as sensitive? I feel like I'm losing my mind

You could easily cut like 150 pages from this book. Why have your characters go on a journey for 150 pages that literally changes almost nothing?

I hate the main character. Very little story is happening. Its like 2/3rds backstory, self introspection (and by that I mean a pity party on the protagonists behalf), and then occasionally something happens. I don't even know if you can call it moving the plot forward because I'm not sure what the end goal of this book is.

If I had read this on quizilla in 7th grade I probably would have loved it. Openings aren't Novik's strong point but this one is particularly bad

A rough start. The in media res approach doesn't work in fantasy books where we know nothing about the world

Every page I read makes me want to throw this book against the wall

The entire first part (100+ pages) could have easily been cut down to 5. Who let this book be 800 pages??

Also SJM owes an apology to every culture that she borrowed from for this book.

This book really assumes a lot of it's reader in the way of absolute unexplained fantasy jargon
