METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: idk if I’m feeling the story and our FMC. I really like the magic system with the tarot cards. But I have issues with the pace of the story. Our FMC doesn’t have much of a plan outside of “I need to escape” and I like when there is a little more chess play.

METHOD: Kindle | UPDATE: It’s cute so far!

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: Not my favorite book of his… there’s been some interesting scenes however it’s not grabbing me like usual. And it’s possible the order of which I’ve read the Cosmere books has affected the “ah ha” moments since some “surprises” aren’t new to me.

METHOD: Kindle | UPDATE: this book started off kinda slow and was almost false advertising for how good it’s becoming! Yearninggggggg 🫠♥️

METHOD: Kindle | UPDATE: This is interesting and I’m hooked. It took awhile for me to see the appeal as the opening scenes didn’t do it for me. But I’m in it now!

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: OMG this is so good! Twist on twist on twist 🎭 I think it would be better in print form but I’m still really enjoying this experience

METHOD: Kindle | UPDATE: Took a break from my nightly reading but I’m back!! Still liking the development and curious where it will take us.

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: Honestly, I was struggling with the first few POVs of this book. Many people have this one as a favorite or top book in the series - it’s gonna need to do more for me to surpass books 2 & 3 (and even book 1).

Ephraim’s POV is my favorite so far. Mustang’s POV is a bit clever which I like too.

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: Ugh… my first negative encounter either Libby… I couldn’t renew my loan when I ran out of time for this one. Now I must wait 11 weeks!! It’s torture… I was having a really good time! My own fault for not reading/listening faster.

Still an interesting story, but I don’t love it. Debating on rolling into the next book or skipping to a different series for awhile… let me know if the series gets better.

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: Storyline is good. Curious when all the different pieces will come together.

The audiobook is driving me nuts!! The volume differences are very drastic - there are quiet moments where I have to turn it up so much that the next moment at “normal” level blow out my eardrums. I understand the goal of adding interest with whispers and shouts, but it’s too much this time.

METHOD: Kindle | UPDATE: Interesting spin on a typical love-triangle. I feel for Max and everything he’s experienced. Tisaanah is definitely a strong character and I have a feeling something is about to happen that will rock her world in a bad way. (Yes, even more so than being possessed)

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) & Kindle | UPDATE: I’m having a good time! Still not sure how I feel about the biting &🩸 fetish but you do you fae-vamp. Carrion remains one of my favorite characters. He plays a long game without anyone realizing it (well.. Fisher is beginning to catch on) and Carrion’s comedic relief is *chefs kiss*. It’s not as driving/page turning as book 1, but at least there’s a mission.

METHOD: Audiobook (Libby) | UPDATE: The slow-burn be smoldering right now! Enemies-to-lovers trope in full effect as well. Except… they are only enemies bc they were raised to be enemies; they haven’t done anything directly to one another, just rumors and old blood. And they aren’t “lovers” - yet. I like Enzo! It’s nice to have a light book boyfriend when they are so often shadow-daddies. Plot is fine.

I’m mostly enjoying this story. There’s a few moments where I feel like I missed something, so I go back to reread, but I didn’t miss anything - there’s just a gap in the sequence. Maybe it’s intentional? Either way, I’m entertained. 😊

METHOD: GraphicAudio (Libby) | UPDATE: what are you doing SJM??? There are moments that are soo good with her writing - then there’s moments where I want to hit my head against a wall… Its like she gets bored with her character list & adds more for the hell of it. It’s one of the reasons TOG bothered me so much and I thought her writing grew out of it - guess not!

METHOD: Kindle | UPDATE: I like the storyline (even if it’s been predictable) however the writing level caps this rating at a 4 star read max. Something really big would have to happen for me to grant this 5 stars at the end.
I’m getting a little burnt out on feisty FMCs that need to save the world. That’s on me for jumping into this when I needed a break.

METHOD: GraphicAudio (Libby) | UPDATE: Not really a fan of how this was written. I was stoked at the end of book two for the overlapping storylines, but so far it’s not great. Feeling like I’ve wasted time getting to know some characters that are useless to the overall plot.

METHOD: Audiobook (free on Spotify) & ePub/PDF (free download) | UPDATE: This is intense. HP meets Handmaids Tale. I will also be reading Alchemised, however I wanted to start with her original work, then read her traditionally published masterpiece.

She does a good job writing grief… 😔

I like it… I don’t love it. The concept is still awesome and the details of the caves are super cool. However I’m annoyed at how often they talk about “un-aliving” Wanderer. I understand it’s a dog-eat-dog world for them, but decide yes or no and move on! Continue to dislike her, sure. But stop with the threats.
