Okay so the whole pretending Gale is her cousin and back paddling Katniss' very real feelings towards Peeta into "meh most of it was bs" just feels like a huge retcon to make her relationship with Gale into way more than it was presented in the first one. She goes from "not sure what I think of the kiss" to "I'll never have a life with Gale?!" in the span of a single chapter. Not a fan.

Now that I'm finally reading the book I legitimately don't know where the whole "Gale vs Peeta" thing comes from.
Peeta is smart as a whip, selfless, funny. Gale meanwhile is... null. A non-entity. A thought that occasionally pops into Katniss' head.
Is it only the Hemsworth guy? It's only the Hemsworth guy, isn't it?
