3.75 stars. Oh gosh. I wanted to love this so much, and I am still so glad I read it, but I also felt uncomfortable while reading. The author asks us to suspend our disbelief in ways that kept distracting me from the story. I have read (and loved) other love at first sight books, but from the get-go, I found this to be problematic. I loved the love story SO much, but not how it was situated within the plot.

DNF early on...it just wasn’t pulling me in or going anywhere. I might pick it up again at some point.

3.5 stars. This was a somewhat slow-moving character study of what happens during the aftermath of a school shooting. It definitely grew on me as I became more invested in the characters! Interesting premise & some unique character choices that made this worth reading.

So good! This series gets better with every book. There were a few elements that I grumbled about because they seemed to repeat a storyline from another book (no spoilers!) but I understood why she did it later on. Fabulous new characters. Amazing how SJM can weave together such a complex storyline and make it seem simple. Mark of a great fantasy writer!
