ready for another old people murder mystery!

makes me want to re-read all the hunger games books and prequel!!

the introduction of the version i got from the library is from a rando different man and i did not realize that at first, it was confusing and jarring when I figured that out. this is a big brain thinker book that I'm gonna take a while / struggle to finish i can tell already

a delightful episodic read. a light little podcast bight size bits. I don't normally like anthology books of essays or short stories especially as an audio but this one has been good so far

I didn't realize Haymitch had such revolutionary teen tendencies

leaning into my lack of lib arts college education by reading this. it also feels very trans masc to read a book eith masculinity in the subtitle

it’s been so long since i’ve visited the universe of hunger games. and i’m interested to see where haymitch’s story goes

what a random assortment of essays. i’m both surprised and not that scratch and sniff stickers last so long

i think we know who’s done the murders by this point but the drawn out answers to “why” and “how” are gonna be good!

the premise is so similar to funny story of these 2 straight people making a deal and doing weekly activities aka dating but not calling it dating while in the backdrop of lake town michigan

love this rivals to lovers, co-writing to deal with writers block

interesting essays so far, although is it a book? i know it’s based on a podcast and with its undertones/background of early covid times places it in an interesting perspective

these old people get up to quite the shenanigans and i’m eating it up! my library loan is about to expire tho so i’ll have to wait a bit to finish 😭

love the writing here it really feels quintessential british old age pensioner

cried at literally every other chapter of this. the audio book really got me. i am also reading this while i have a cold/cough. i’m glad is my last book of the year

great book, it free like i’m watching crash course world history again but john green went with me to grad school and got obsessed with a bacterium. also, a depressing read

the MC is really should to on a journey of discovering what friendship is after a life of always moving around and devoting your life to another person (her single mom, every boyfriend she’s ever had) but instead this MC bones the love interest and also forgets multiple plans with new bestie!
I get it’s a romance novel but damn the author is trying really hard to make me NOT like her!! Where is the growth??????

love how this book romanticizes small town michigan/great lakes midwest in the summer. but damn i don’t like this MC as a person but as a character, it’s an interesting arc.

classic cozy cooky british murder mystery

i saw the twist coming from a miiiile away but still loving the fallout even if it’s not a surprise

i don’t my love enemies to lovers as a trope but i think the growth potential that the MC has to be a better captain/player/person is very well suited for a 17 year old, relatable, and the way that the love interest pushes MC to be better in these ways is what makes their dynamic interesting to me. The stakes feel so high as they would in high school! love the plot and an underdog sports story

loving this so far! interesting characters and premise and way more engaging than 3 body problem! look i got 1hour into 3body audio book and that was a snooze fest!!

okay the world building of this series IS problematic but the way the author creates a sympathetic villain that we understand well!! ooo it’s good and nuanced. also low key author has the slightest tendency for surprising suffering/trauma fest or a kids story that came up in the last book too, i still find this prequel a solid flesh out of backstory

trying this in audio book format bc i tried reading the ebook a while ago and i stagnated. but the world building me has me thinking i’ll like this as audiobook
