this probably is my book of the year, yes i’m biased but actually this is everything i want in a queer sports romance. infinitely better than heated rivalry? i will be taking any and all questions about it, and i may just never shut up about it

THISSS is wayyyy bettter than heated rivalry!! so much more character and heart 💜 i want to see HBO make this a tv series but alas sex is what sells

a lot more horny building up and longing for these MCs. i’m much less invested than other EH books

another coworker/professional peers with horny vibes story. i’m not as pulled by the narrative but henry’s writing is great as usual

i don’t immediately dislike the MC this time!

not as hooked by the premise but i missed emily henry’s writing after my shallow jaunt along the gay camino

also the ridiculously hot and energetic gay italian man stephan is my favorite he’s so sweet and himbo 🥹

well now i want to fall in love doing the camino in a couple months!! but knowing my luck it will be old people and some odd straight folks in my group lol 😅

this book is very silly. the MC’s audiobook narrator is very annoying with a constant whine of anxiety but maybe that’s a character choice bc that’s very much the vibes of the MC 😕 i’m intrigued to see how this goes. the premise of the camino de santiago is getting me excited for my trip in april!

oh! i am DOWN bad for these two! i ship them so hard, and more than any other emily henry couple. i see Why they made a movie. and while it is a fun stand alone movie, it is a Bad adaption of this book!!

the book is much better paced than the movie. also poppy is a much more tolerable MC (surprising for an emily henry book)

while the book shows a bit more how their friendship grows over time and is a lot more realistic in the trips around america that they can afford. i still want to see more of the early years of alex and poppy. also i get that some chapters are thematically linked and so we hop around the timeline but it’s actually to complicated for me and i just wish things were in chronological order

the book is better than the movie so far!
i love Julia Whelan as the narrator for Henry’s books

another great romp, so sad my skip the line loan for the audiobook ended when i had an hour left of it but now i have the skip the line ebook so i am satisfied :)

there’s a lot of romantic sub plots going on that surprise me and make me feel more lonely than the romance books i’ve been reading lol

an interesting ending!! mc was such a people pleaser. i think she would have been happier as a derm resident instead of neuro surgery since she wanted life balance! and i don’t think it’s realistic she would have figured out she “hated hospitals” in the middle of residency like that’s what rotations as a med student are for!?
love the found family and talking abt different immediate family dynamics

i wonder why the vacation book got made into a movie first. this one fees so much more cinematic

having only made it to the foreplay of emily henry sex scenes. and having read multiple of her romances recently. i didn’t think one of her related phrase would be mc saying “my nipples pinch “ ik it’s been a while since i’ve been a woman but we gotta get an editor in here. get some variety. nipples don’t just pinch on their own right?!

fun to read on the train

wow okay so the long distance being the killer to a relationship to it being resolved by their family in a grand romantic community gesture hit me hard 🥲

the plot has slowed down for the last 1/4th. the sister has relationship issues but won’t open up to the MC about them but also MC doesn’t feel comfortable with sister who sees her as a workaholic. how are they gonna reconcile?? i don’t think there’s enough time for them to have a satisfying arc!!

i can see where the half love triangle is going, i also respect the MC’s hesitancy to start relations with a colleague! who she’s now working with! don’t shit where you eat is v right. anyways i’m more intrigued by the sister and what’s going on with her

i find a lot of comfort in the rhythm and formula of an emily henry romance in a small town. this time we’re in the south (north carolina) but i like the meta elements of referencing the christmas rom com of city woman goes to small town to fall in love and become less uptight
