Someone on my socials read this recently and I thought, "Well, that's a sign to pull this off the TBR mountains and read it."

So I am.

I'm really struggling with this one, and I absolutely adored the first two in the series.

First off, I don't know where the breakdown is, but the translation's not what you'd expect of a book that's this high profile. Grammar problems abound.

And secondly, the storytelling isn't nearly as masterful as it had been. It's kinda... boring.

There's something weird going on with the language in this book.

Open wounds are called scars.

We had a phrase along the lines of "behind his retinas" and one "string an arrow."

Curtsey/courtesy, and some other misuses, as well. It's odd. It's almost as if this book is a translation, but nothing about it says so.

Liking this more as I keep reading. Yeah, it's a Hallmark movie in a book, but there's really rich material here.

I wish the format allowed for more exploration of the vandalism, though. (and maybe it will; it just happened) I get the complexity involved and would like to see that thoughtfully explored.

I have a different cover, which I like better.

First impressions: SO CUTE. (Also, Jennifer, I want to line edit you. You're good, but together, we could make you better.)

Another DNF for me, I'm afraid.

This book is so WHITE. Which, given Sam's situation, is a little hard to believe.

My first question: If he's such a celebrity, where's the plastic surgeons?
