In the beginning, then, God worked. Work was not a necessary evil that came into the picture later, or something human beings were created to do but that was beneath the Great God Himself. No, God worked for the sheer joy of it. Work could not have a more exalted inauguration.

Jesus prayed, “if this cup cannot pass except I drink it, Thy will be done”… the chief ingredient in the cup of sorrow was separation from God… and shame on me, for whatever else was in that cup, my sins were there, all the sins of my life… ever so bitter and distasteful.”

Christian love draws no distinction between one enemy and another…. Who is to be the object of such a love, if not those whose hearts are stifled with hatred?…. God loves His enemies- that is the glory of His love.”
