Delta is on page 165 of 394 of The Scot Beds His Wife (Victorian Rebels, #5)
DNF at 42%. I don’t like either the H or h enough to continue, and the plot is kind of ridiculous.

Delta is starting Someone to Trust (Westcott, #5)
Really loving Mary Balogh’s Someone to Trust’s story of 26-year-old Colin and 35-year-old Elizabeth’s unexpected attraction to one another. ❤️ The story is set in an idyllic white Christmas with a large and loving family frolicking in the snow (and in the house) in Regency England. Perfect escapist reading for me! (Happy sigh)

Delta is 48% done with Choosing Theo (Clecanian, #1)
DNF on p. 184
This story has the miscommunication trope between H/h to a stupid degee, and H has the I’m-not-good-enought-to-be-loved-so-she-must-have-ulterior-motives trope.

Delta is 56% done with Night of the Scoundrel (The Devils of Dover, #3.5)
DNF in Chapter 9
Reads like fan fiction of Hoyt's Maiden Lane, but the characters are somewhat flat. The heroine opens the Regency era tale anonymously fencing bad guys in a dark alley in the slums of St. Giles. The anti-hero is the crime lord, King, who lifted himself from the poverty by wit and violence. Magnetically drawn to one-another, they work together to defeat a black-hatted villain.

Ugh… not even 50%, but seems like I have been reading this a loooong time. There is no chemistry between H & h.

The plot sounds a little silly, but I am in the mood for a sexy, Regency romp!

If you are waiting for your next Ruby Dixon fix, she has a chapter-a-day serial that is a free read - Corsairs: Adiorn. This occurs chronologically after *Deceiving the Corsair* (Corsairs #4) and at the same time as *When She Belongs* (Risdaverse #4). You can read it here:

“She was his rainy-day woman. When the memories got to him, she was his refuge. When loneliness ached through his body, she was his cure. She saved him simply by being there, by waiting, by loving a man who had no love to give back.
As the storm raged and calmed, she pulled him into her bed. They made love in the silence of the evening, and then he held her against him and slept”

The only way I can make sense of this story is to consider it a flat-out comedy. Indy Savage is a too-stupid-to-live heroine, but we are supposed to be endeared to her by the stream of consciousness that sounds like a 19-year-old coming from a 30-year-old. Her hi jinx and reasoning are like those of Lucy Ricardo on crack! Continuing to see where this all goes...

Rereading
Just finished book 1, Firelight. I must have flown through these the first time, entranced by the story, and did not fully appreciate Kristen Callihan’s beautiful writing. Some of the dialog between H & h is achingly beautiful, and their love and longing is skillfully conveyed at the same time a suspenseful and mysterious series of events unfold.

I’m looking forward to reliving Darkest London.

I skipped this one because it sounded too angsty, and the heroine sounded like a cry baby; but my friends like it, and I adore this series and everything else I have read from Ruby Dixon, so here goes...

Delta is finished with The Death of All Things
This is a short story about Molly and Evan protecting their family with the help of two of Molly’s sisters.

It is always nice to get a window into the lives of the Trueblood-Everhearts, but this is my least favorite of such stories of the series. If you skip this one, you are not missing anything essential to the plot line.
